Many of the well-known battles of the Civil Wars took place just beyond Buckinghamshire’s county boundaries – Edgehill, Newbury, Cropredy and Naseby. Yet, there was continuous destruction and disruption, not least as the county lay across main road and river routes between the King’s headquarters at Oxford and Parliament’s stronghold in London. This talk illustrates that conflict not only had a significant effect on county gentry families but also on local communities
